We are addicted to ahi poke over here and there just doesn’t seem to be too many place to get authentic Hawaiian Ahi Poke in San Diego.  So I decided to try and make my own.  It’s pretty damn simple to make.  The most important part is fresh fish!  My dad went on a fishing trip this week and brought back the freshest Yellow Fin Tuna and Blue Fin Tuna.  I decided I would use the Yellow Fin, since that is what is typically used in classic poke.  The results were pretty damn good!  Here are the pictures of the process and the recipe I used-


– 1 Pound Fresh Sashimi Grade Yellow Fin Tuna

– 1/2 Cup Soy Sauce

– 1 tsp Sesame Oil

-4 Green Onions Chopped

– 2 Tablespoons Sesame Seeds

– 2 Tablespoons Red Pepper Flakes

– Ginger (optional)

Chop tuna into into 1 inch cubes.  In a bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, sesame seeds, green onions,  and red pepper flakes.  Now add tuna into the bowl and toss.  Let it sit in the fridge for 30 minutes to chill.
